The inspection of finished buildings carried out through non-destructive tests is a useful tool in the construction sector to detect the conservative status of a building in a non-invasive way, without the need to intervene drastically on structures and plants.
ASACERT carries out non-destructive tests at different levels to offer its customers a complete and efficient inspection service, keeping up with the most modern investigation technologies on the market. The main purpose of this typology of test is finding and identifying any construction deficiency and monitoring the degree of durability and structural performance of the building.
In order to carry out an accurate analysis of finished buildings and systems, without taking samples or destroying part of the work, ASACERT has numerous non-destructive survey services, adaptable to the specific needs of each individual intervention.
The non-destructive tests carried out by ASACERT professionals are:
They are based on the detection, through an infrared camera, of the temperature of the plant (or building) being analyzed; the variation in thermal intensity signals the presence of any points of breakage and spreading inside the pipes. Thermographic inspections carried out by ASACERT can be conducted on any type of pipe without interrupting the supply of the system.
The ultrasound assessment is based on the measurement of the speed of the longitudinal elastic waves inside the concrete structure. This survey allows to correlate the mechanical resistance measured on the surface (sclerometric test) with the structural texture in depth (ultrasound transmission), involving the entire body of the investigated structure. The measurement allows to quantify the extent of the discontinuities and of the detected cavities within the building.
Represent the most used non-destructive test in the field of inspection of finished buildings; they allow to evaluate the compressive strength of a structural element (generally in reinforced concrete). The basic equipment needed by the ASACERT team consists of the sclerometer, an instrument composed of a steel striking mass that strikes a percussion rod in contact with the concrete surface and records the intensity of the rebound on a linear scale. By analysing the recorded average values it is possible to evaluate the mechanical strength of the structural elements of the building.
ASACERT conducts magnetometric investigations with the purpose of identifying the quantity of metal reinforcements and defining the thickness of the concrete cover and the interference between rods in reinforced concrete structural elements; this non-destructive test is also useful for carrying out the technical assessment of metal reinforcement elements inside walls, floors, supports. The magnetometric investigations are carried out with a pacometer, a digital apparatus consisting of a probe, which produces a magnetic field, connected to a digital and acoustic data processing unit.
ASACERT, as a third-party inspection body, can perform non-destructive tests on finished buildings to ascertain in an impartial and objective manner:
The use of non-destructive tests on finished buildings and systems without causing damage to the elements drastically reduces the costs and time of the intervention.
